Birmingham, AL – On Tuesday, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama announced a $388 million expansion to their Montgomery facility dedicated to manufacturing engine heads and enhancing existing operations. The expansion is expected to create 50 new jobs at what is already Montgomery’s largest private manufacturer. Construction on the expansion is expected to be completed in November 2018.

“I am thrilled about Hyundai’s expanded commitment to Alabama’s River Region,” said Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL). “As home to Hyundai’s only North American manufacturing facility, it is powerful to see the impact of their continued investment throughout our community. Since opening their Montgomery facility in 2002, Hyundai has provided thousands of Alabamians with an opportunity to work, train, and build a valuable skill set. As a Member of Congress, I have made it a priority to promote a job-ready workforce that keeps Alabama competitive, and investments like this are an important step forward.”

In August, Rep. Terri Sewell will host the 7th Annual Job Fair in Montgomery, connecting local job seekers with major Alabama employers.
