U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell is concerned that the dismissal of a misdemeanor battery charge against U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller sends the wrong message about domestic violence.

"I am deeply disturbed that the charges against Judge Mark Fuller have been dismissed," Sewell, D-Birmingham, said in a press release Tuesday.

U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell on Tuesday criticized a judge’s dismissal of a misdemeanor spousal abuse charge against U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller.

“Our society is sending the wrong message about domestic violence to perpetrators by allowing a federal judge — who has sworn to uphold the values we hold dear — to continue to serve in any capacity,” Sewell said in a news release.

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The hero's welcome at Carver Elementary School in Montgomery was out of this world for NASA astronaut Capt. Scott Tingle. Dozens of children surrounded Tingle and chanted 'USA, USA, USA!' Tingle also posed for photos and signed autographs.

"It was incredible. I am very humbled by it. I don't feel worthy," he said.

The stop was part of Sewell’s “Congress in your Community” tour.

Orrville Mayor Louvenia Lumpkin said she wanted the Congresswoman back in the town since a visit to Keith High School last year.
