Montgomery Advertiser: Congress threatens Fuller with impeachment
The House Judiciary Committee will consider impeaching U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller if he doesn't resign by Aug. 1, the committee announced Tuesday.
Fuller said Friday he'll resign on that date, which will mark almost one year since he was charged with battery of his then-wife. The Judiciary Committee, apparently unhappy Fuller didn't resign immediately, said impeachment is looming.
Even after Fuller said he would resign, his fellow judges on the 11th Circuit Judicial Council said Monday his actions "might constitute one or more grounds for impeachment." The council forwarded his case to the Judicial Conference of the United States, which will decide whether to recommend impeachment.
