Tuscaloosa News: U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell blasts dismissal of case against federal judge Mark Fuller
U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell on Tuesday criticized a judge’s dismissal of a misdemeanor spousal abuse charge against U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller.
“Our society is sending the wrong message about domestic violence to perpetrators by allowing a federal judge — who has sworn to uphold the values we hold dear — to continue to serve in any capacity,” Sewell said in a news release.
A judicial panel is still reviewing Fuller’s case, and some members of Congress, including Sewell and Sens. Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby, have called for Fuller’s resignation or impeachment.
Fuller isn’t currently hearing cases, but his salary is still being paid.
