Washington, DC—Today, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) released the following statement regarding Global Automotive Supplier Lear Corporation’s announcement to build a multi-million dollar supplier plant in Tuscaloosa County:
“I'm pleased that Lear Corporation has announced that they will be building a $19.6 million supplier plant in Tuscaloosa County. Spurring job creation and economic growth is a priority for Alabamians and Americans across this nation. This $19.6 million investment is projected to create 150 new jobs in the 7th Congressional District.
It is great news that Lear Corporation will continue to make critical investments right here in America, and I applaud the company for its commitment to create jobs and strengthen economic development in Alabama.”
Lear Corporation is headquartered in Southfield, Michigan and has more than 200 plants worldwide. The supplier will make seats and seat frames for the Mercedes-Benz auto assembly plant in Vance, Alabama. Lear Corporation makes seating, seating components and electrical components for the automotive industry and serves every major automaker worldwide.
