February 5, 2013
WASHINGTON, DC – Tomorrow, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (AL-7) will attend the 61st National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hilton Hotel with two faith-based leaders from the 7th Congressional District of Alabama. The Prayer Breakfast, held annually, provides an opportunity for elected officials, business leaders, visiting dignitaries and leaders from all over the world to come together to pray and reflect upon issues facing this nation and the world. President and Mrs. Obama will be in attendance. As is tradition, the President will deliver remarks.
“I am pleased to attend the National Prayer Breakfast with faith-based leaders from my district,” said Rep. Sewell. “Now more than ever, we must come together to craft common-sense solutions to resolve the most critical issues facing our nation. I look forward to joining my colleagues in prayer and reaffirming our commitment to strengthening American families by creating opportunities and providing resources for all to succeed. Together, we can build a brighter future for our communities and move this nation and the world forward.”
Guests accompanying Rep. Sewell to the breakfast will be two pastors from the 7th Congressional District:
- Pastor Edward Nettles, Free Will Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL
- Pastor Thomas Wilder, Bethel Baptist Church of Collegeville, Birmingham, AL
“I am humbled for the opportunity to attend the National Prayer Breakfast, said Pastor Edward Nettles. “It is such an honor to be sharing this time with Congresswoman Sewell and the President of the United States. I want to thank her for giving us this opportunity.”
“I very glad to receive the invitation from Congresswoman Sewell to attend National Prayer Breakfast,” said Pastor Thomas Wilder. “I look forward to joining our faith based community as we pray for our nation and our leaders.”
The National Prayer Breakfast is a bi-partisan event held in Washington, DC, on the first Thursday of February each year. The breakfast, held in the Hilton Hotel’s International Ballroom, is attended by some 3,000 guests and international invitees from over 100 countries. It is hosted by members of the United States Congress and is organized on their behalf by The Fellowship Foundation, a Christian organization.
