MYRTLEWOOD, AL – On Monday, September 17, Myrtlewood was awarded more than $1.7 million by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as part of its Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants program. The grant will be used to improve public water systems in the area and to create a more efficient operations system for the town’s more than 2,000 residents. System improvements include installation of radio-read meters, upgrading computer monitoring systems, and installation of new equipment.

“This is incredible news for the residents of Myrtlewood. Proper water systems are vital to a community’s health, development, and overall growth,” said Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL). “By bringing more resources to Myrtlewood, this grant will help provide local families with stronger public infrastructure and better opportunities. Today’s grant is a needed step in the right direction and I look forward to seeing how this helps the community develop.
