Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL) released the following statement in observance of the 15th anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001:

“On this Sunday, September 11, 2016—it will be 15 years since our nation was forever changed by the terrorism that occurred on September 11, 2001. Together as a nation, we remember the victims and survivors of this tragedy and their loved ones—we honor the first responders, police officers, firefighters, and other heroes that selflessly served to save the lives of those involved in this atrocious attack.

“In the midst of such unimaginable violence and confusion, our country was able to unite our community with hope and resilience. Despite their differences, strangers comforted and supported one another—and the nation resolved to not let fear and uncertainty triumph over the American spirit.

“As a Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, I am committed to fight for our nation’s continued safety and security.   We will never forget the events of September 11, 2001, and we will continue to protect our country and uphold the American ideals of liberty, justice, equality and freedom for all people.”
