Montgomery Advertiser: Report: 132K Alabamians could lose health insurance

More than 132,000 Alabamians could lose their health insurance if the U.S. Supreme Court strikes down subsidies offered in the federal health insurance exchange.

Families USA, a nonprofit that supports the Affordable Care Act, released a study Tuesday of the impact of the loss in 12 southeastern states should plaintiffs prevail in King v. Burwell case. The nation’s high court is expected to hand down a decision in the case in the next two weeks.

Ron Pollack, executive director of the group, said the study aimed to show “the very real pain that will be inflicted on families across the country if the subsidies are struck down by the Supreme Court.”
