WFSA: Nike factory store opens in Tuscaloosa
Hundreds of people lined up to shop in Tuscaloosa’s new Nike factory store on Thursday. Once the doors opened up, there was a mad dash to get inside.
A company spokeswoman says this is part of Nike’s effort to get more factory stores in college towns.
Shoppers will find local imagery inside the store and merchandise that pays respect to the traditions of the University of Alabama.
Former Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper and Congresswoman Terri Sewell cut the ribbon on the new store.
"Just love their clothing. Their shoes, they're the most comfortable shoes. Just a bid Nike fan. My kids love Nike. My kids won't wear anything but Nike,” shopper Mark Wright said.
The University of Alabama and Nike have had a 40 year relationship, according to a company spokeswoman.
