WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (AL-7) announced that $164,540 was awarded to Craig Field Airport & Industrial Authorityto renovate their facilities.  The U.S. Department of Transportation funds were awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration.

“This funding will help the Craig Field Airport Authority repair and update their existing facilities, which will help attract new business,” said Rep. Sewell. “When new businesses are attracted, jobs are created and more goods are transported across the country.  These are the types of funding opportunities that will make our 7th Congressional District stronger.”

“We appreciate everything that Congresswoman Sewell is doing for the airport, and look forward to working more closely with her,” said Menzo Driskell, Executive Director of Craig Field Airport & Industrial Authority.  “The roof on the airport hanger is in need of repair, and with this funding, we will be able to fix it.  This project will also create jobs, and we hope to attract aviation related type maintenance companies.”

According to the project description, the funding will be used to repair the roof of a sponsor-owned hangar. The hangar will assist the airport to be more self-sustaining by generating revenue.  Craig Field Airport is a general aviation airport associated with Selma, Alabama.
