Press Releases

Washington, DC—Today, Congresswoman Sewell (D-AL) and Miles College announced that Miles College President Dr. George T. French has been appointed to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI).  The NACIQI advises the Secretary of Education on the establishment and enforcement of the standards of academic accreditation and on the eligibility and certification process for institutions of higher education.

“It is great news that Dr. French has been appointed to the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity,” said Rep. Sewell (D-AL).  “Dr. French embodies the integrity, knowledge and professionalism needed to successfully advocate for higher education in the 7th Congressional District, the State of Alabama and the nation.  I am confident he will use his years of experience to advance the NACIQI ‘s mission and will help set strategic priorities for the future of higher education in America.”

“I am pleased to accept this 4-year appointment by Secretary Duncan to the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Enhancement,” said Dr. French. “I am grateful to Congresswoman Sewell for recommending me.  Our nation recognizes the need for a robust accrediting process of institutions of higher education. Standards set forth by NACIQI for higher education ensure that we as a nation out-educate and out-innovate the rest of the world. I look forward to upholding these values as advocated by Congresswoman Sewell, President Barack Obama and his predecessors for our higher educational systems.”

Dr. French’s tenure will start immediately and last through 2014.
