Rep. Cassidy Follows Through on Friendly Wager with Rep. Sewell, Congratulates University of Alabama on the Floor of House of Representatives
Washington, DC – Today, as Congress begins a new session, Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-LA) made good on his friendly wager with Congresswoman Terri. A. Sewell (D-AL). Reps. Sewell and Cassidy wagered on the 2011 BCS National Championship football game between Alabama and LSU. Alabama won the game in a decisive 21-0 victory; and in the spirit of true sportsmanship, Rep. Cassidy donned a houndstooth hat, Alabama tie and brought congratulatory remarks which included “Roll Tide” on the Floor of the House of Representatives, as a condition of the bet to pay tribute to the Crimson Tide on their victory.
“It was a hard fought game between the top teams in the nation. I am so proud of my Crimson Tide for securing victory and bringing home the crystal trophy for the second time in three years,” said Congresswoman Sewell. “Congressman Cassidy was a great sport as he brought congratulatory remarks to the team on the House Floor. I look forward to continuing the friendly rivalry between Congressman Cassidy and myself. Roll Tide!!”
“LSU and Alabama both had great seasons. Although, I wish the outcome had been different, I congratulate Alabama on a game well played. This was a tremendous season for both teams and I look forward to a re-match next year,” said Congressman Cassidy.
