In addition to hosting the annual Congressional Job Fair, Rep. Sewell founded Project R.E.A.D.Y., a workforce development initiative which offers training workshops conducted throughout the 7th congressional district by career professionals in partnership with educational institutions. The next Project R.E.A.D.Y. workshop will be held on Monday, July 31, at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa. See more information and register online for the July 31 Project R.E.A.D.Y. event.
Since coming to Congress, Rep. Sewell has made job growth a top priority. In the House of Representatives, Rep. Sewell has introduced the Workforce Development Tax Credit Act (H.R. 1190), a bipartisan bill that prepares workers for manufacturing jobs by providing federal tax credits for businesses that offer apprenticeship programs and additional tax credits for companies that hire apprentices.
Rep. Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) is serving her fourth term representing Alabama’s 7th Congressional district. She sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and was recently appointed to the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. Sewell is a Chief Deputy Whip and serves on the prestigious Steering and Policy Committee of the Democratic Caucus.
