WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) released the following statement today following the House passage of a civil contempt resolution allowing the House of Representatives to enforce its subpoena powers in court:

“Attorney General Barr and former White House counsel McGahn have so far defied lawful Congressional subpoenas to appear before Congress on matters of critical importance.

“No American is above the law and for Congress to carry out its constitutionally mandated oversight powers, it is essential that we are able to follow the facts where they lead. The current Trump Administration position of total non-compliance cannot be tolerated.”
