Washington D.C. — As the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the University of Georgia Bulldogs prepare to compete in the College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship game on Monday, U.S. Reps. Terri A. Sewell (AL-07) and David Scott (GA-13) announced a friendly “double or nothing” wager on which team will win the national title.

In December, Reps. Sewell and Scott placed bets on which of the two teams would win the SEC Championship title, with the Alabama Crimson Tide ultimately coming out on top. Should the Crimson Tide secure the CFP National Championship title, Team Sewell will enjoy a Chick-fil-A lunch and Georgia peach crumble cheesecake courtesy of Rep. Scott. Should the Georgia Bulldogs be victorious, Team Scott will enjoy a lunch of Alabama barbecue from Tuscaloosa’s own Dreamland Bar-B-Que and sweet potato pies courtesy of Rep. Sewell.

“Alabama beat the Bulldogs in December and we’ll do it again in January!” said Rep. Sewell.“Good luck stopping Heisman winner Bryce Young! I look forward to enjoying a lunch and dessert courtesy of my friend Rep. David Scott. The Tide is going to Roll in Indianapolis on Monday!”

“There is truly nothing sweeter than a rematch victory against a great rival — especially in the National Championship,” said Rep. David Scott. “Wishing all the best to our Georgia Bulldogs on Monday — I am looking forward to both the taste of sweet victory over the Crimson Tide and delicious Alabama barbecue from my friend and colleague, Congresswoman Terri Sewell. Here we go Dawgs, sic ‘em!”

The Alabama Crimson Tide will meet the UGA Bulldogs in Indianapolis for the CFP National Championship title and its associated Congressional bragging rights this Monday, January 10, at 7:00 pm CT.
