Statement from Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell about Hyundai's Announcement of Third Shift at Montgomery Plant
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (AL-07) released the following statement about Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama’s announcement of adding a third shift to its plant in Montgomery, AL:
“I am pleased that Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama is continuing to make critical investments in Alabama’s local economy by adding a third shift to its plant in Montgomery. This third shift will not only create 877 new jobs at Hyundai, but will also generate job growth in auto related industries that will greatly benefit the 7th Congressional District, the State of Alabama and this nation. For nearly 10 years, Hyundai has maintained a strong manufacturing presence in our state employing thousands of hardworking Alabamians. I applaud Hyundai for its efforts to create jobs and strengthen economic development in Alabama.”
These additional hires will bring the total number of jobs created at the plant to more than 3,000 and Hyundai’s 2012 production capacity will increase by approximately 20,000 units.
