Statement from Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell In Observance of Memorial Day
Washington, DC—Today, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) issued the following statement in recognition of Memorial Day, which will be observed on May 30:
“This Monday, we will honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives to defend our country. They bore the ultimate sacrifice so that we all can live in a free society. We owe our country’s safety and its liberties to their courage.
We also honor the brave men and women who are currently serving in our armed forces. Thank you for your bravery and service. I want to make special note of the individuals who are serving from the 7th Congressional District and the State of Alabama. You make us all very proud.
As some of us spend this weekend with our families and loved ones, let us not forget what this time is truly about, paying special tribute to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much to protect and preserve our safety and security. Let us never forget that we have the precious gift of freedom because of the dedication and courage of those who serve and have served.”
