WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, September 27, Members of Congress will participate in a hearing with commissioners from the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) to discuss USCCR’s recently released report on the state of voting rights in the United States. Released on September 12, USCCR’s Assessment of Minority Voting Rights Access in the United States documents ongoing discrimination in voting procedures enacted by states and localities across the country and the roll back of voting rights since the Supreme Court’s decision in Shelby County v. Holder. The panel will take place from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM and will feature USCCR Chair Catherine Lhamon, USCCR Vice Chair Patricia Timmons-Goodson, and USCCR Commissioner Debo Adegbile.
