BIRMINGHAM, AL – On Thursday, March 22nd, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) will host a COPS Grants Workshop in Birmingham targeted at municipal and county level law enforcement to help them find federal funding for their community oriented policing strategies (COPS). The workshop will provide an opportunity for local leaders and law enforcement from around the 7th Congressional District to learn more about COPS grants, specifically the COPS Hiring Program grant. During the workshop, attendees will hear from Department of Justice officials and past recipients of the COPS Hiring Program grant to help to prepare them for the FY2018 COPS grants application process.

Rep. Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) is serving her fourth term representing Alabama’s 7th Congressional district. She sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and was recently appointed to the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. Sewell is a Chief Deputy Whip and serves on the prestigious Steering and Policy Committee of the Democratic Caucus. She is also a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and serves as Vice Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, and Vice Chair of Outreach for the New Democrat Coalition.
