Press Releases

WASHINGTON, DC –Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) released the following statement today after the House and Senate passed a two-month extension of the payroll tax cut, unemployment insurance, and the Medicare physician fee fix:

“Today, 160 million Americans will not see their taxes go up, nearly 24,900 Alabamians will not lose unemployment insurance while looking for work, and 48 million seniors will continue to have the medical care that they need. While our work isn’t over, I applaud President Barack Obama and our House and Senate Congressional Leadership for listening to the American people.  I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to pass long-term measures that secures the middle class, sustains health care coverage and access for our seniors and promotes economic growth and job creation.”
