Washington, DC — Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) issued the following statement after the swearing in of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, for his second term:

“Today we celebrate the historic inauguration of Barack Obama to the presidency of the United States for his second term. This momentous occasion represents the commitment of all Americans to continue moving our country forward. Though we have made great strides and significant accomplishments over the last four years, we still have work to do. President Obama and his administration have a vision to bring our country back to economic prominence and we must put partisanship aside and collaborate together on long-term solutions for our Nation’s issues.    

As we move forward from this day, I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and this administration as we continue to strengthen our economy and create American jobs.
