“My annual report gives constituents an easy-to-follow guide to what we accomplished together this year in Alabama’s 7th Congressional District,” said Rep. Terri Sewell. “Things got off to an early start in January, when President Obama signed a proclamation designating the Birmingham Civil Rights District as a national monument. This was also my first year serving on the House Ways and Means Committee, where I defended access to affordable healthcare and worked to refocus the GOP tax bill on benefits for working families.”
“This past year, my office remained focused on creating better opportunities and providing more resources to Alabama’s 7th District. We hosted over 92 district events in 2017, including town hall meetings, forums, workshops, and industry tours. We also responded to over 10,750 pieces of constituent correspondence, completed over 470 case work files and sponsored our 6th Annual Job Fair, connecting over 600 job seekers with over 60 major employers.”
In addition to providing details on Rep. Sewell’s fight to promote job growth, protect health care, and strengthen democratic institutions, the report provides statistics on Rep. Sewell’s constituent services. This year’s annual report shows that Rep. Sewell’s office secured over $650 million in federal grants for the district and helped constituents recover more than $1.3 million in benefits owed to them by the federal government.
