January 29, 2026
Washington D.C. — The Washington D.C. and district offices of U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) are currently accepting applications for summer 2026 interns. College students and recent graduates interested in government and public service are invited to apply for a chance to spend the summer working closely with Rep. Sewell’s staff on a variety of important legislative, communications, and administrative tasks.
"Our summer internship program offers a great opportunity for students and recent graduates to serve the people of Alabama’s 7th District while gaining critical experience in a dynamic congressional office," said Rep. Sewell. "Our interns are an integral part of our team and keep our offices running smoothly each and every day. As a former congressional intern myself, I know firsthand the opportunities that these experiences can unlock, and I encourage anyone with interest to apply!”
Interns will have the opportunity to research legislation, interface directly with constituents, draft letters, compile media clips, and attend legislative hearings, briefings, and seminars.
Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university or have recently graduated. Students with connections to Alabama that will have completed their sophomore or junior years in an undergraduate program by June 2026 are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates should be proactive, professional, dependable, and have an interest in federal policy and the legislative process. Candidates should also possess strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to multitask, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
The Office of U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in the hiring process based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, military service, or other non-merit factors.
