Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (AL-07) released the following statement in response to recent comments made by Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) accusing the Democratic Party of waging a “war on whites”:

“I am incredibly disappointed in the comments made by my colleague Congressman Mo Brooks. To invoke racial motives in the debate for comprehensive immigration reform is neither productive nor warranted. His insensitive remarks are inflammatory and do not represent the views of the State of Alabama,” said Rep. Sewell. “Our nation is facing a crisis. Now is the time for America to put aside partisan politics and unite on behalf of the unaccompanied minors. The time is long overdue to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill.”
