Rep. Sewell Statement on Texas High School Shooting
May 17, 2018
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) issues the following statement on the school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas:
“Today we mourn the loss of more American children, who were senselessly taken from us while at school. I am heartbroken for those who lost their children, friends, and loved ones today in Texas. I am also heartbroken for our Nation,” Rep Sewell said. “Inaction by Congress on this issue becomes more and more unacceptable after each mass shooting. We are reminded, yet again, that our children deserve so much better."
“The American people are tired of Congress’s gridlock on the issue of gun violence. While we grieve the loss of these young people today, more innocent American lives will be taken from us tonight and tomorrow. While we pray for the grieving families and the countless American children growing more afraid to go to school with each passing day, let’s also pray that Members of Congress will come together now to protect our citizens from deadly weapons.”
