Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell released the following statement on the fourth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA):

"Today marks four years since the passage of the Affordable Care Act.  Since its enactment, millions of Americans have gained access to the health security they need and deserve. The ACA has proven to uphold its core promises of expanding access to quality, affordable health insurance, strengthening consumer protections and providing Americans with the peace of mind that comes with both.

In less than four years, the ACA has greatly benefitted the people of Alabama. Almost 30,000 children in the 7th Congressional District now have health insurance and seniors in Alabama have saved over $151 million in prescription drug costs since its enactment. In 2013 alone, more than 682,000 Alabamians received free preventive services. The ACA is working for the people of Alabama and I will continue to fight efforts to repeal or undermine that progress as I have been proud to do more than 50 times since coming to Congress.

I remain committed to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and providing access to affordable healthcare for all Americans.”
