Rep. Sewell Hosts 10th Annual Job Fair in Bessemer, Announces Selma as Next Year’s Job Fair Site
November 15, 2021
Bessemer, AL - On Tuesday, November 9th, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) hosted the 10th Annual Congressional Job Fair at the Bessemer Civic Center. This year’s event featured over 50 employers from across 10 industry sectors. Returning to an in-person setting after two years, the Job Fair welcomed almost 500 job seekers. The Job Fair serves as an opportunity to foster economic growth across the 7th Congressional District, reflecting Rep. Sewell’s dedication to promoting job opportunities by connecting employers directly with job seekers. It is Rep. Sewell’s largest constituent outreach event of the year. Rep. Sewell is pleased to announce that next year's job fair will be held in her hometown of Selma, Alabama.
“Like me, many Americans who grew up surrounded by poverty saw the lasting effects of historic disinvestment in their communities long before the COVID-19 pandemic brought these issues into sharp clarity,” said Rep. Sewell. “Since coming to Congress, I have made it my mission to address those very factors, making a commitment to the people of my District to bring economic opportunities directly to them. As one of my top priorities, the annual job fair is vital to creating a better future for Alabama families by promoting and advancing economic prosperity in the 7th District. I am beyond pleased at how well this year’s job fair went! I am thrilled that we were able to return to an in-person venue, and I know that continuing to connect job seekers to employers will help us Build Back Better!”
