On Thursday, July 19, 2018, Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) will host three Project R.E.A.D.Y career training events at the same time to assist constituents with resume writing, interview techniques and career development from 10 AM to 12 PM in three locations – Montgomery, Selma, and Hayneville. This training will be conducted in partnership with the Alabama Career Center System and will provide participants with an array of career development assistance. The training will be held in advance of the 7th Annual Congressional Job Fair to be held on August 2, 2018, at Alabama State University in Montgomery.  Project R.E.A.D.Y is a job readiness initiative created by the office of Congresswoman Sewell in 2013 to connect constituents with businesses, non-profits, state, and educational institutions to provide career development opportunities. All three events will take place on the same day and at the same time in three different locations.

BACKGROUND: Project R.E.A.D.Y, which stands for Realizing Everyone’s Potential to Develop Yourself, is a job readiness initiative created by the office of Congresswoman Sewell in 2013 to provide constituents with career development and skills training opportunities to prepare attendees for employment in a wide range of career fields.

The training events are held in preparation of the 7th Annual Congressional Job Fair, which will be held at the Alabama State University Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Thursday, August 2nd from 10 AM – 2 PM. Job creation remains a top priority of our office, and our career development initiatives work to ensure that the constituents of the 7th Congressional District have the education and skills they need to find quality employment opportunities.

Rep. Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) is serving her fourth term representing Alabama’s 7th Congressional district. She sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and was recently appointed to the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. Sewell is a Chief Deputy Whip and serves on the prestigious Steering and Policy Committee of the Democratic Caucus. She is also a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and serves as Vice Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, and Vice Chair of Outreach for the New Democrat Coalition.
