Press Releases

Birmingham, AL – Thursday, August 13, 2020, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) will host Project R.E.A.D.Y. (Realizing Everyone’s Ability to Develop Yourself), a series of three virtual workshops intended to prepare job seekers to apply for jobs during the age of COVID-19. The workshops will train attendees to write a cover letter and resume; navigate virtual job fairs; get results from online applications; prepare for virtual and recorded job interviews; and network virtually. Project R.E.A.D.Y. comes ahead of Rep. Sewell’s Annual Job Fair which will also be held virtually this year.

“I am so pleased that despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we will still be able to hold Project R.E.A.D.Y., this year with an emphasis on applying for jobs in the digital age,” said Rep. Sewell. “As more and more employers are shifting their business online, it is essential that the people of Alabama’s 7th Congressional District be prepared to navigate a digital job market. When I first ran for Congress, I made a commitment to connect job seekers and employers across our district with an annual job fair and with its sister event, Project R.E.A.D.Y., and I am excited that this year we will still be able to hold both events virtually. Now more than ever, with rising unemployment due to the pandemic, we need to continue to provide employment access to my constituents.”
