WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, May 24, the House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in a bipartisan vote. The NDAA authorizes $708 billion in defense funding, supporting an increase in military troop strength, a pay raise for service members, and funding for 77 F-35 fighter jets, among other provisions. Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL), a Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), supported the NDAA when it passed the House.
“Today, lawmakers from both parties came together to pass legislation that will provide for our national security, give our service members a well-deserved pay raise, and equip our military with the resources they need to keep our country safe,” said Rep. Terri Sewell. “I am also proud to see today’s NDAA fully fund the F-35, which has made Montgomery, Alabama, home to one of our most cutting-edge military programs. For our Armed Forces, for our military families, and for the American public, today’s legislation is a step towards building a stronger military force in a time of complex national security challenges.”
