Rep. Sewell Accepting Military Service Academy Nominations for 2021

Birmingham, AL – U.S. Rep. Terri A. Sewell (AL-07) is currently accepting Military Service Academy nomination applications for 2021.
“Each year I have the great privilege of nominating a select number of applicants to four of the Military Service Academies,” said Rep. Sewell. “This is one of my most satisfying duties as a Member of Congress, and I am thrilled to announce that the official 2021 nominating process for Military Service Academies is open!”
To be considered for an appointment to a military service academy, an applicant must meet the eligibility requirements established by law and be legally domiciled within the boundaries of Alabama's 7th Congressional District. Students MUST complete a 2021 Nomination application, which can be found on Rep. Sewell's website here.
Submissions must be received by the Birmingham office by U.S. mail postmarked no later than Friday, November 19, 2021. Applications should be mailed to:

Congresswoman Sewell will host a virtual Military Service Academy Preview Day with representatives from all five Service Academies, the Marion Military Institute, and a graduate of the United States Naval Academy who will provide information and answer questions about each of the Military Service Academies.

Background on Service Academies
There are five Service Academies:
- The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA)
- The United States Naval Academy (USNA)
- The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA)
- The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA)
- The United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point
Nominations are required for all but the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, to which appointments are made on the basis of their independent application process.
