Press Releases

Selma, AL - Today, U.S. Rep Terri Sewell (AL-07) visited National Guard Vaccination Clinics in Lowndes and Dallas Counties as part of her American Rescue Plan District Tour to highlight resources available in the historic $1.9 trillion legislation to improve vaccination distribution efforts throughout Alabama’s 7th Congressional District. The clinics are being led by the Alabama National Guard (ALNG) to bring COVID-19 vaccinations to underserved and rural counties throughout Alabama.

“I want to thank all of the Alabama National Guard troops who are working hard to ensure the equitable distribution of vaccines to all Alabamians, particularly to some of our most underserved communities in Lowndes and Dallas Counties,” said Rep. Terri Sewell. “I am proud that these efforts will be further bolstered by a $20 billion national vaccination program made possible by the American Rescue Plan. Making sure every American who wants a vaccine can get one will help us crush the virus and get our economy moving again!”

Background on National Guard Vaccination Clinics in Alabama:

Resources made available by the federal government have enabled Alabama National Guard (ALNG) to administer COVID-19 vaccinations to underserved and rural counties throughout Alabama. The ALNG will be working closely with the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), and local county Emergency Management Agency staff to provide vaccinations in counties across Alabama. DPH is hosting mass vaccination clinics in each of the state’s public health districts. Visit Mass Vaccination Clinics for a detailed list.

Background on American Rescue Plan:

The American Rescue Plan is a $1.9 trillion stimulus package that will provide crucial aid to families, workers, and communities suffering from the health and economic crises caused by COVID-19. Among its many resources, it will get shots in arms with a coordinated, $20 billion nationwide vaccine program to:

  • Make sure we have enough vaccines for all Americans through research, development, manufacturing, production, and purchase.
  • Get those vaccines out to all Americans quickly and equitably through community vaccination centers, mobile vaccination units and more.
  • Improve communication to strengthen confidence in the vaccine and make sure all Americans know when, where and how they can get one.
