Washington, DC – As the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) nears its end, college football fans across the country are gearing up for the most highly anticipated matchup, the BCS National Championship in New Orleans, Louisiana, featuring a fierce rematch between the top two teams in the country: #1 LSU and #2 Alabama. U.S. Representatives Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA) have decided to participate in a rematch of their own with a friendly wager on which team will hold up the crystal trophy when the clock strikes zero.

Should the Alabama Crimson Tide secure victory, Congressman Cassidy has agreed to wear the trademark Bear Bryant houndstooth hat and bring congratulatory remarks which must include the words “Roll Tide” in his message on the first day Congress is in session following the game.

Should the LSU Tigers win, Congresswoman Sewell has agreed to wear the signature Les Miles white LSU hat and bring congratulatory remarks which must include the words “Geaux Tigers” in her message on the first day Congress is in session following the game.

“This weekend my Crimson Tide heads to New Orleans for the BCS National Championship focused and ready to bring home the crystal trophy for the second time in three years,” said Congresswoman Sewell. “I look forward to the moment Congressman Cassidy congratulates the Crimson Tide on their victory wearing a houndstooth hat. While both teams are winners for making it to the Championship, I am confident our team will secure the trophy once again. Roll Tide!!!”

"It is a compliment to both teams and to the superiority of the SEC that for the first time, two teams are in a rematch for the BCS Championship. Congresswoman Sewell and I are in a ‘rematch.’ She was a great sport after LSU's first victory,” said Congressman Cassidy.

Alabama vs. LSU is set for Monday January 9 at 7:30 pm CST on ESPN.
