Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Terri Sewell issued the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 1191, the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015.

“The Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 struck the appropriate balance between giving the Obama Administration the flexibility it needs to negotiate for a nuclear-free Iran, and granting Congress the proper authority to review a final agreement that would waive or suspend sanctions against Iran.

“Resolving the nuclear standoff with Iran is of grave importance for our nation’s security and for Israel, our strongest ally in the Middle East. We must make every effort to ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon.

“The Senate has already passed this bipartisan bill, and it will now be sent to the President for his signature.”
